FAQ
What type of yoga do you offer?
Our yoga classes focus on alignment and are based on Hatha yoga, which includes physical postures. We also have teachers who are trained in different types of yoga such as Anusara, Ashtanga, Iyengar, vinyasa/power yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra, and restorative yoga. In addition, we offer fitness classes such as mat Pilates and barre or yoga with weights to build strength.
Do you have hot yoga classes?
We only offer regular temperature yoga classes. Our studio temperature is approximately 21-22 degrees Celsius.
Can I attend a class without booking in advance?
To ensure smooth and safe class registration, we require all students to register and pay for their classes before arriving at the studio. The studio is only open for a short time before and after each class, and registering beforehand ensures that everyone has signed the necessary waivers and makes the admission process more efficient, eliminating the need for paper forms and payments before class.
Are your classes suitable for all ages and levels?
Most of our classes are suitable for all levels and for those over 16 years old as indicated on our schedule. For beginners, we recommend starting with a gentle or restorative class. Regular attendance will help you develop a strong practice. If you need further assistance, please email [email protected] for recommendations.
Can I do yoga if I'm not flexible?
Definitely! Yoga is perfect for people of all abilities and flexibility levels. Yoga practice can help you become more flexible over time. It's like taking tennis lessons without knowing how to play tennis. Come as you are, and you will notice an increase in your agility and strength, as well as a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.
I have an injury. Can I still do yoga? While yoga can be a way to heal your body, it is always best to check with your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program, especially if you have recently had surgery or an injury. Please inform your teacher about your specific injury so that they can provide appropriate recommendations for adjustments and alternatives during the class. Remember, yoga should not be painful, so please stop and rest if it hurts or notify your teacher if something feels uncomfortable.
What do I need to practice yoga?
For in-person classes and virtual classes, you will need:
- A yoga mat that provides enough cushion and grip to prevent slipping, such as the B-Mats that we carry in our store.
- A water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Yoga blocks to bring the ground closer. If you don't have blocks, you can use large hard-covered books or cans of soup.
- A yoga strap to help you extend your reach. If you don't have a yoga strap, you can use a belt, scarf, or towel.
- Blankets and bolsters to support your body during restorative poses. If you don't have these props, you can use towels or cushions.
- Padding such as towels, facecloths, or blankets for sensitive joints like knees, elbows, and wrists.
- For virtual classes at home, you will also need a space that is large enough to move your body in all directions, both lying down and standing up.
Do I need special props for mat Pilates or classes with weights?
For mat Pilates and fitness classes, you will need a yoga mat and, as with yoga, it's always helpful to have yoga blocks or hard-covered books/soup cans to bring the ground closer. Some fitness classes may also make use of light hand weights (1lb or 2lbs generally) and a Pilates ("squishy") ball. When offered, Barre classes are designed to use the back of a sturdy chair as a the barre. If you don't have hand
